Preservation and Metadata

• FEDORA leverages a simple but elegant model to package together the following components of a digital object:

  • A unique, persistent identifier
  • Descriptive and administrative metadata of any schema, although METS and Dublin Core are native
  • Disseminators, to preserve the object's behavior
  • The object itself, called a “data-stream” in FEDORA-speak
